Now “ABD!” Congrats, Deborah!
All course work done for her Ed.D.! As some of our readers know, Deborah has been a full-time doctoral student the last 2 years. She is pursuing a Ed.D. (Doctorate of Education) in the area of Higher Education Leadership and Management from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Several days ago, on Sunday August 14th, she turned in her last course assignments for the degree. I wanted to post a congrats yet that night, but Deb wanted me to wait until she knew she passed the courses. She did and with flying colors! She is now officially “ABD,” All But Dissertation. She has a good start on her dissertation, and in the midst of our missionary preparation and support-raising this fall Deborah will also be engaged in her dissertation research and writing. Way faster than me, Deb!

US Marine OCS Candidate Rockrohr “On-Duty” and Graduation Photos
OCS Candidate Rockrohr “On-Duty” Photos
Congratulations Jim, you are a U.S. Marine Officer Candidates School graduate!
Jim scored well and was made the Candidate Platoon Sergeant of the 44 men of 2nd Platoon, Echo Company. The photos from the battalion formation and review show Jim in the back of his platoon; this is where he marched as the candidate platoon sergeant. This set of photos is from both the OCS website and some I took at Family Day and Graduation Day. I will put up more photos with family later, but these are “On-Duty” photos. There are some nice candid photos from a distance. Carl
Congrats U.S. Marine OCS Candidate Rockrohr!
Jim is the Candidate Platoon Sergeant in charge of the 44 men of 2nd Platoon, Echo Company, Officer Candidates School (OCS) for the last week of OCS. He scored a perfect 300 on his second Physical Fitness Test (PFT) last week and did very well in the overall grading by his commanders and also by his peers. Great work Jim and God be with you! The photo is from the photos of the Final Physical Fitness Test from the OCS website. Jim is the second from the front with the number “2″ on his shirt. I will put up pics of his graduation next week. Carl
Jim in “The Quigley”
Jim in the “The Quigley” at OCS. The family recognized his hands and nose, otherwise he looks like all the other candidates on the OCS Combat Course (interesting photos). God’s blessings, Jim! Carl
Marine Officer Candidates on Obstacle Course
Here is Jim’s Echo Company ready for the obstacle course. Follow the link to the set of photos. They are pretty cool but can’t identify Jim in any of them. Carl
New Sermon: “Be On Guard!”
Carl’s sermon from 5 June 2011 on 1 Peter 5:6-11. Dr. Luther and the Officer Candidates School of the U.S. Marines help us understand the seriousness of Peter’s warning to watch out for the devil, the roaring lion desiring to destroy our faith in Jesus Christ. See Sermons page. Carl
